Latvia in detail

What the national rules say, with the legal texts.

Latvia puts data centre duties in two laws. Since 18 April 2025 the Energy Efficiency Law requires owners and operators of a data centre with at least 500 kW of installed IT infrastructure power demand on the last day of the year to report to the European data centre database by 15 May and to publish the same data on their own website. Since 1 October 2026 Cabinet Regulation No. 602 sets security requirements, two-yearly audits and operator duties for data centres that host systems of entities covered by the National Cybersecurity Law, which also classes large data centre service providers as essential. We found no Latvian rule on data centre waste heat.
