EED data-centre KPI calculator

Enter one site’s figures for one reporting period and get PUE, WUE, ERF and REF as Regulation (EU) 2024/1364 defines them. The page also checks the 500 kW threshold. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Site
Energy over the period
Water, heat reuse and renewables

What it calculates

PUEE_DC divided by E_IT. Power usage effectiveness: how much total energy each unit of IT energy takes.
WUEW_IN divided by E_IT in MWh, in m3 per MWh. Water usage effectiveness. Zero water gives a valid zero.
ERFE_REUSE divided by E_DC. Energy reuse factor: the share of facility energy handed on as useful heat.
REFGuarantee-of-origin, PPA and on-site renewable energy added together, divided by E_DC. Renewable energy factor.

What it does not do

  • It does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. It does not check your meters, your measurement boundaries or whether a certificate was counted twice across sites.
  • It is not a compliance decision, a certification, legal advice or a submission to the EU database. ScienceShot is not an accredited certifier.
  • The 500 kW result covers the power criterion only. Whether you must report also depends on location, exemptions and ownership.
  • It uses the rules in force today. The rating classes in the Commission’s 2026 amendment are not in the calculator because that text is not yet in force and its water unit is still ambiguous.
  • A missing figure stays missing and is never counted as zero. A figure of zero is treated as a real zero.

The definitions are those of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/1364, Annexes II and III. Background: what to report and when and the regulation tracker.

Reporting across sites and rules? A compliance tracker is in preparation

The calculator above stays free. The compliance tracker is for operators and the consultants who work for them. For each site you turn on the rules and certifications that apply, and the tracker sets out the obligations, the evidence to hold, the due dates and the next actions.

Rules by site

EU energy reporting, Germany’s Energy Efficiency Act, and the French and Dutch reporting duties. The tracker indicates which apply from each site’s profile, and you confirm or override with a reason.

Certifications by site

ISO 50001 and ISO 14001, with the EU Code of Conduct and the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact read from the same figures. Turn one on for a site and the tracker lists the evidence an auditor asks for and schedules the audits, reviews and renewals.

Report guidance and evidence

Field-by-field guidance for the EU report, with this calculator running on the same figures, an evidence register that points to your own files, a calendar, and a draft to type into the EU platform.

Status: in preparation. Nothing is for sale and joining commits neither side. We will write to you when the tracker opens.

The button opens an email to the ScienceShot editorial team with a few short questions already written. We use your reply to decide what to build first and to write to you about it, and we publish only aggregate counts. This page stores nothing.

The tracker indicates which rules apply. It does not decide your legal scope, certify, audit or file on your behalf, and it keeps references to your evidence, not the files. For updates on the reporting rules, follow the weekly brief.
